First-Year Students

As a first-year student at TCU, you have many opportunities to explore academic and professional interests.  To get the most out of your first year, please use the checklist below as a guide to help keep track of your academic and professional goals.

First Year Requirements

  • You should begin completing the lower-division requirements at this point (ENGL 10803, MATH 10283, ECON 10223 & ECON 10233). These requirements can be completed through summer.
  • Attend the First-Year Symposium
  • Complete PowerPoint by published deadline date
  • Complete Excel by published deadline date
  • Maintain a TCU cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater at the end of first year
  • If you are interested in Neely Fellows please see your advisor before moving forward with lower division requirements.  These courses will be taken within the Neeley Fellows program curriculum.

Change of Major

  • You may change your major if you have decided that you are not interested in your declared major.  Talk to an advisor and develop another graduation plan.

Fourth-Year Students

Congratulations on entering the final year of college.  You are almost there with only a short time before graduation.  Listed below is a checklist to assist you in completing your degree.  Finish strong!!

Keep Track of Final Courses & Grades

  • Check your final semester courses and grade requirements by reviewing your degree progress report.  Make an appointment with your advisor if you have any questions.
  • Consider adding an elective course if you have room in your schedule.
  • Confirm that your major and minor are correct on your degree progress report.
  • Complete the on-line Intent to Graduate
    Your academic advisor will review your intent to graduate, list remaining courses for graduation and email your completed intent back to you. Please refer to this form when you are selecting courses for your final semester.  
  • Register for the classes listed on your Intent to Graduate form.
  • Make sure all study/abroad/transfer credits are posted to your record.
  • If you plan on taking 18 or more credit hours, please stop by Dan Rogers in room 130 to complete the Academic Overload form.
