Neeley Fellows

Overview of Program

Neeley Fellows is a three-year academic program challenging top business students to stretch beyond their already competitive coursework. The program promotes development of enhanced business skills as well as professional development in the areas of career management, communications and global, ethical leadership skills to equip individuals for success in today's business environment.

Students selected for the Neeley Fellows enter as sophomores and participate as a cohort in honors designated courses that represent most of the business core classes as well as a broad range of activities designed to integrate practical skills with theoretical learning, resulting in an enriched educational experience. You will: 

  •  Stretch beyond your already competitive undergraduate business coursework and be taught in an more interactive manner (similar to MBA courses);  
  •  Interact with top faculty and business executives both inside and outside of the classroom; 
  •  Build life-long personal and professional relationships each semester.

 You must have a minimum 3.5 GPA each semester of your first year to apply to this program.

BNSF Neeley Leadership Program

Overview of Program

The BNSF Neeley Leadership Program is a three-year transformational leadership development program. If you prefer an integrative, experiential learning setting that balances classroom knowledge with skill building through outside co-curricular activities with a focus on personal, leadership, professional and career development, the Neeley Leadership program is for you.  The program allows students to learn more about their personal leadership style, values, personality and purpose as a leader, which will then translate into opportunities to build your own path for success during and after college. 

Students selected for the BNSF Neeley Leadership Program enter as sophomores and participate as a cohort in a series of academic, leadership courses that provide students with a significant scope of knowledge on the theories and concepts of leadership. You will: 

  •  Acquire first-hand leadership knowledge and experience;  
  •  Learn from top leadership professors; 
  •  Be exposed to business leaders through classroom interactions, one-on-one coaching  
  •  and networking opportunities; 
  •  Gain a competitive advantage upon entering the workforce; 
  •  Build life-long personal and professional relationships. 

You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply to this program. 

Program Requirements

For Neeley Fellows applicants:

Neeley Fellows is a business honors program that is Personal, Connected and Real. If you prefer an enriched academic environment and working with other highly motivated students; if you strive for professional growth and career development; if you want to set yourself apart and get the most out of your Neeley experience, then Neeley Fellows is for you.


Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA each semester of your first year to apply to this program.

Neeley Fellows Additional Requirements


Part 1: ONLINE APPLICATION
Complete and submit the online application by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017.


Part 2: OTHER REQUIRED MATERIALS


After applying you will receive an email with details about the following:


INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEWS: Please indicate all individuals within the program you have previously met or had a conversation with, including all members of your social sorority/fraternity. Due in Dan Rogers 141 by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017.  

You will participate in face-to-face informational interviews between March 30 – April 13, 2017 with two current Neeley Fellows assigned to you. Dress is casual.

RESUME AND COVER LETTER: Please submit your descriptive resume, in the format of the sample emailed to you and accessed on the website to Dan Rogers Hall 141, Neeley Fellows Program Director by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017. You may make your resume as long as necessary to include all the relevant details; however, you are expected to keep it in the format requested. 

Include a well-written cover letter explaining the following:

  1. Why would you like to participate in the Neeley Fellows Program?
  2. What would you bring into the program?
  3. What would you consider your personal responsibility as a Neeley Fellow?
  4. Why do you want to pursue a business degree in an academically enhanced honors program?

RECOMMENDATION LETTER: Please have one letter of recommendation addressed to Laura Barclay, Program Director, Neeley Fellows. Mail to TCU Box 298530, Fort Worth Texas 76129 or email to Megan McKinney: m.e.mckinney@tcu.edu. The recommendation letter may not be from a family member or a current Neeley Fellow. Letters are due by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017.

FELLOWS RECRUITING ROUNDTABLE: You will be asked to attend a networking session with Fellows Alumni in the BLUU Auditorium.  You will be notified for your morning or afternoon session.  Business professional attire.

For BNSF Neeley Leadership Program applicants:

The BNSF Neeley Leadership Program is an academic program that helps selected Neeley students develop their individual talents and aptitude in order to lead oneself, lead others and eventually lead an organization.  The program includes a fast-paced, varied sequence of activities including 15 hours of coursework, assessments, coaching sessions, competency development workshops, speakers, corporate site visits, and community stewardship events, which all stimulate reflections and development of distinctive personal leadership competencies.  

BNSF Neeley Leadership Program Application Requirements

Part 1: ONLINE APPLICATION
Complete and submit the online application by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017.

Part 2: RECOMMENDATION FORM: Ensure that ONE recommendation form is submitted on your behalf.  You will need to provide your recommender with the form located on the BNSF Neeley Leadership Program website.  The form must be submitted by the recommender, but it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the form is submitted to the BNSF Neeley Leadership Office in Dan Rogers 232 by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017. If the form is not submitted, your application to the program is not complete.  The recommender may not be a family member or a current student in the Neeley Leadership Program.  This person should be able to speak to your initiative, leadership ability, integrity and professional interest and goals.

Part 3: STUDENT CONTRACT: Submit a signed copy of the student contract to the BNSF Neeley Leadership Office in Dan Rogers 232 by 5 p.m. on March 24, 2017.  

Part 4: INTERVIEW: If you are selected for the interview round of the selection process, you will contact our office to sign up for a time to take part in a face-to-face interview with stakeholders in the leadership program.

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA after the first semester of their freshman year.

Application

Applicants who are interested in applying for both programs and have met the minimum requirements to apply, may do so. Students cannot be selected for both programs, however.
