I need to take some additional courses in order to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam. Can I enroll in classes as a non-degree seeking student?
TCU does offer courses for non-degree seeking students at the undergraduate level. Contact the undergraduate admissions office for more information. We do not offer graduate level accounting courses to students outside the Master of Accounting cohort.
Does the MAc program at TCU offer online courses?
At this time, the MAc program at TCU consists of traditional face-to-face instruction. No online courses are currently offered.
What financial assistance is available for graduate programs?
Merit-based Graduate Assistantship (GA) appointments are the most common form of financial assistance. All students are automatically considered for a GA appointment during the application process and no further application is required. Please visit www.financialaid.tcu.edu to view additional financing options through the University.
How do I select a concentration in the MAc?
The MAc curriculum is comprised of MAc Core classes that are a requirement for every student. In addition, each student will choose an area of concentration to further hone their skills in preparation for their chosen career path. The student may choose to concentrate in Assurance Services, Taxation, or Financial Reporting and Valuation. To fulfill the course requirements for graduation, students will successfully complete their MAc Core classes in addition to the classes for their concentration. If you have questions about which concentration to choose, please contact the MAc Director when you are setting up your class schedule.
What is the difference between a MAc degree and an MBA?
The MAc degree provides the additional hours beyond a Bachelor’s degree that are required to take the CPA exam in Texas. Upon completion of the MAc degree, students generally take the CPA exam and work in the accounting industry. An MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree is attained by students looking to sharpen their skills and leadership abilities in their targeted business field. The MBA program is designed for students who have approximately 5+ years of work experience.
Can I work full time while pursuing a MAc degree?
The MAc program is an intensive 30-hour, full-time program that is completed in two consecutive semesters. Fifteen hours of graduate classes per semester is a very full load, and therefore, MAc students will not be able to work full time during the program.
Is there an opportunity to study abroad in the MAc program?
Yes, a study abroad opportunity is available for MAc students during the winter intersession between the fall and spring semesters.
How much does the program cost?

I have already passed all four sections of the CPA exam. Will the Master of Accounting degree benefit me?
The MAc program at TCU is designed to build upon the knowledge base students have attained as a result of earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. All of the students in the MAc program plan to sit for the CPA exam after graduation. If you have already passed all four sections of the CPA exam, you have demonstrated mastery of the accounting subject matters addressed in graduate school, and therefore, we do not believe that our MAc program is a good fit for you.
