Course Prerequisites

Open to all MBA and PMBA students in good standing who have completed BUSI 60050, required

Earns 3 hours credit

Class limit: 15

Experience the unique issues facing businesses in Italy today, especially makers of high-end luxury products and providers of high-end services, as it relates to the European economic crisis within the context of Italy’s history, culture, political and legal systems, and the European Union. Students will provide a pre-trip presentation, case write up and create a photographic journal. Students will take an Italian language test.

Bologna and Florence, Italy

Tentative Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Bologna. Italian cooking class and welcome dinner.
Day 2: Visits to producers of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto ham, followed by group lunch.
Day 3: Attend a lecture at the University of Bologna Business School, followed by an afternoon company visit.
Day 4: Visit Carpigiani, world's largest producer of gelato machines. Bus to Florence.
Day 5: Free time to explore Florence and work on photojournal.
Day 6: Company visit to LaMarzocco, manufacturer of the world's finest espresso machines.
Day 7: Visit Antinori winery, learn about wine cultivation and production and have lunch at the Michelin-starred Osteria di Passignano. In the evening will be our closing dinner.
Day 8: Depart for home

$750 for a student's first study abroad trip.  Total fee is $2,400, minus $1,650 covered by the Neeley Graduate Program office.

  • Included: Textbooks and materials, hotel accommodations (2 students per room), transportation within country, welcome and farewell dinners, expenses related to company visits and lectures.
  • Not included: TCU tuition, airfare to and from Italy, airport taxes, passports or tourist visas, meals and personal expenses.
  • Guest fee: $2,400
  • Second trip for TCU MBA student: $2,400

Travel Arrangements
Students should not purchase flight tickets or make other irrevocable travel arrangements until they have received communication from the faculty member(s) leading the trip.

Registration and Payment
Class is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Full payment of $750 via credit card is required at the time of registration
