Three TCU baseball student athletes represented TCU Neeley in the team’s journey to the semifinal round of the 2022-2023 College World Series. Cohen Feser, Jax Traeger and Braeden Sloan are three members of the team and also business school students who showed what it means to take care of business.
“Going to the CWS has always been a dream of mine since I was little. So being there in the moment was surreal. Also, just seeing all our team's hard work paying off was very rewarding,” said Feser, a sophomore.
Feser, found his place as a right-handed, relief pitcher for the Horned Frogs, and he became a crucial asset to the team during a pivotal game against Oral Roberts University. The starting pitcher had done an exceptional job and, as the game neared its end, the Horned Frogs needed a strong relief effort. Feser was tapped to take the mound. The resulting win clinched a 6-1 victory for the team, eliminating Oral Roberts and advancing the team to the semifinal round of the College World Series.
While Feser earned a spotlight that day, he and his teammates and fellow TCU Neeley students – Traeger and Sloan – brought value to the team's success throughout the season. Traeger, a freshman right-handed pitcher, consistently delivered great performances on the mound by demonstrating control and composure. Sloan, another freshman on the team, is a left-handed pitcher with a knack for dominating opposing batters.
Together, Feser, Traeger, and Sloan formed a formidable trio of pitchers for the TCU Horned Frogs this season. Their contributions helped propel the team to new heights and reach the College World Series.
Feser credits TCU Neeley with equipping him with problem-solving skills that he uses both on and off the field.
“I would say my experience in Neeley has prepared me to manage my time with school and baseball. It has also improved important skills such as communication and confidence when putting myself out there,” Feser said.
Traeger agreed, and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to play the sport he loves and develop leadership skills through the business school.
“Getting to work toward a TCU Neeley degree in conjunction with continuing athletics in college has brought my college experience fulfillment, as I can have a rigorous education while chasing my baseball dreams simultaneously,” Traeger said. “I've been able to learn leadership qualities from my professors that certainly carry over onto the field.”
