When Maria Arguello walks across the stage and accepts her TCU diploma next month, she’ll be thinking of her time as a double major in the TCU Neeley School of Business focusing on supply chain, and management and leadership. As Arguello begins her career as a commodity manager at American Airlines, she’ll apply much of what she has learned and be thinking about the people she has met along the way.
“One of my best experiences as a Neeley student has been all the networking opportunities that we are provided, which are incredibly helpful when connecting with all kinds of companies and industries,” Arguello said. “I'm really excited about this role and the opportunity to work at an amazing company.“
Arguello also credited experiential learning opportunities like the Center for Supply Chain Innovation’s annual Global Supply Chain Summit for helping prepare her for a career in the supply Chain Industry.
This year’s upcoming Global Supply Chain Summit is on Wednesday, April 24, and focuses on “AI and Advanced Planning in Supply Chain.” The keynote speaker is Nick Elizondo, vice president for IT, supply chain and research and development solutions at Keurig Dr. Pepper.
The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all facets of business is growing and changing. This dynamism is what Arguello said attracted her to a degree in Supply Chain where students learn the entire process of bringing products or services from suppliers to customers.
“Through our classes, we also get to learn and improve our problem-solving and analytical skills,” Arguello said. “Effective supply chain management significantly affects companies' performance and bottom line, so I knew this major could help me get a job that feels meaningful.”
