At this year’s homecoming football game, TCU Chancellor Victor Boschini announced Marina Magnant as the award recipient. The annual recognition of Outstanding Senior is presented to a senior who gives their time and dedication to the TCU community and is selected based on an application process, interview with a panel of faculty and staff, and student votes.

Marina Magnant has spent countless Saturdays at Amon G. Carter Stadium chronicling the feats of fellow Horned Frogs while working as the lead intern for TCU’s social media team. Yet the senior describes standing on that field during halftime of this year’s homecoming game and hearing her name called as TCU’s Outstanding Senior as “truly surreal.”
“It was almost like everything went mute, which is crazy given how packed the stadium was. I felt present, but also like a spectator. It was truly an out-of-body experience,” Marina said.
“When I heard my name and the Chancellor [Victor Boschini] approached me, I felt my eyes fill with tears. It was indescribable,” she said. “The only emotion that I felt was gratitude. Gratitude for the trust, gratitude for the opportunity, gratitude for the honor, gratitude for a moment at TCU that will mark my life forever.”
Marina is a double major in Supply Chain and Marketing with a minor in Global Business at the TCU Neeley School of Business. This led to her role as lead intern for the social media department in TCU’s Marketing and Communication Office, making the football field her office and that fall Saturday at Amon Carter so special.
This moment was made possible by a random encounter Marina had with TCU Neeley School of Business professor Garry Bruton in Portugal. She credits him with her choosing TCU, where she has filled her four years with memorable moments—John V. Roach Honors College, Neeley Leadership Program, representing the university at the New York Stock Exchange bell ringing ceremony as part of the kickoff for the university’s yearlong 150th celebration and, most recently, placing second in the San Diego International Business Case Competition.
Her personal experiences have driven her interest in the Supply Chain Management program.
“In my eyes, supply chains are the mechanisms that connect the world,” Marina said. “In the future, I hope to cultivate connections that I have gained throughout my supply chain and marketing career and act as a bridge between cultures and regions, facilitating effective communication and understanding between countries worldwide.”
Marina recently accepted an offer from Goldman Sachs in asset management where she will use her skills acquired at Neeley and TCU in their New York office.
