Tyson Browning Brings Research, Industry Experience to Cox Family Endowed Chair

Tyson Browning, professor of operations management in the TCU Neeley School of Business, has been named the Cox Family Endowed Chair, marking the latest distinction in a career that combines influential research, award-winning teaching and connections to industry.

Browning joined TCU in 2003 and has built an international reputation for research focused on managing complex projects and improving the processes organizations use to develop products and systems. His areas of expertise include project and program management, product development, systems engineering, process improvement and risk management.

His scholarship spans peer-reviewed publications, articles, conference papers, book chapters and editorials, with his research receiving more than 13,000 citations. Browning has also shared his expertise through more than 300 academic and industry presentations and workshops across 24 countries. He served as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Operations Management from 2018 to 2023 and co-authored Design Structure Matrix Methods and Applications.

Before joining TCU, Browning worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, where he served as a senior project manager focused on company operations, architecture and process integration. His industry experience continues to inform research with practical applications for organizations managing complex projects and operations.

His work as a professor in the Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Department has also earned recognition. Browning has received multiple Neeley graduate teaching awards and was named the school’s Rob Rhodes Professor of the Year in 2021, recognizing sustained achievement in research, teaching and service.
